Two special projects in Stockholm for Moelven ByggModul

21.6.2010,

The building module manufacturer Moelven ByggModul is currently involved in two very interesting construction projects in Stockholm. The projects are quite different. One of the projects involves adding another floor to an existing building in the form of a terrace house for ”people on the move”; the other is a retirement home specially constructed for deaf pensioners.

Sixth floor terrace house -- a stone’s throw from downtown Stockholm

Work is already underway to complete installation of the additional floor, this time in the form of a sixth floor terrace house in the popular Ladugårdsgärdet area. The residence will be both close to nature and the pedestrian district, and just a stone’s throw from the heart of Stockholm’s downtown district. The first of the residences will be finished and ready to move into in late summer.

The ultra modern terrace house, which is being built by the contractor Aros Bostad, will offer a small-town atmosphere in the middle of the city. There will be large terraces and balconies with spectacular views. The high standard and impressive views will make this a unique residence in Stockholm.

- This is a residence that we truly look forward to being able to offer to persons looking for something extra special, says Samir Taha, Managing Director of Aros Bostad. Building such an exclusive residence is not an everyday affair, and it feels right to complete the project using modern industrial construction techniques.

Retirement home customized for deaf tenants
Moelven recently signed the contract to supply Stockholm’s first retirement home built specifically for deaf tenants. The retirement home needs to provide a complete sign-language environment for the pensioners, and will be built in Hökarängen, Stockholm.

- This is a residence that we really look forward to being able to offer retired people in the city of Stockholm, says Daniel Josefsson, Managing Director of Danator. Building such a customized care home is not everyday business, and it feels right to complete such a project using modern industrial building techniques, which is something with which we have good experience.

The foundation work is already underway and construction will begin at the end of June 2010. In late autumn, the care facility will be ready to accommodate the first tenants.

- These two projects fulfill highly relevant market needs. There are many good reasons to build the home in wood using industrial construction techniques, but the main reasons are the time aspect, the environmental benefits and the cost. The fact that the builder chose Moelven is evidence that the field is seriously beginning to see industrial production of homes in wood as an alternative to using other approaches, says David Öberg, Marketing Manager of Moelven ByggModul AB.
