The challenging market situation for Moelven sawmills means that the Group earned significantly less in the third quarter compared to the previous year. The operating profit for the quarter will still be positive as a result of extremely good results for the Group’s Building Systems division.

The first half of 2008 generated satisfactory results for the Moelven Group. The activity level has been high, and operating revenues increased compared to the same period last year. The increase was in the Building Systems division, which had the best quarterly profit figure ever. The Timber and Wood divisions experienced a significant decrease in operating profit, primarily due to competitive pressures on the sawmills.

Moelven has again this year set a new profit record by posting a profit totalling NOK 990 (373) million for 2007, which is a tripling of the record set 2006. The fairy-tale adventure seems to be over this time around, however, and the new record is expected to stand for some years to come.
